Why do you need a certificate of insurance from a subcontractor?

Taking the time to make sure you have the proper paperwork could save you money and time when the claim occurs.

When a subcontractor fell and sued our client who owned the building , our client was protected because he had the proper indemnifications from the general contractor and a properly executed certificate of insurance. This allowed our client to tender the sub-contractor’s law suit to the general contractor’s insurance company, and did not have to go through his own insurance thereby having no effect on our client’s premiums.
